Don't Exhaust Yourself.

Can we all agree that trying to be something you're not is exhausting?

Then why try to do it in business too?

"Nobody's perfect, so give yourself credit for everything you're doing right, and be kind to yourself when you struggle" - Lori Deschene

This is similar to a recent blog post about reach; when you're trying to communicate to a specific audience, you don't have to be using every avenue of communication. That opens the door for the audience to miss the message completely or misunderstand it. Neither are options

you want.

There's no reason to be working extra hard to try and promote something on social media if it's not reaching the desired audience. Instead, do your homework first. Find out where your audience gets their information and focus your energy where you know they will be.

Between other messages, content and noise, there are many ways for the audience to miss the message you are trying to send. Maintaining a strong presence where you know they will be can eliminate some of that risk.

You may also want to take a close look at what you're representing and see where the content you could make around it would best fit. If your product is best represented visually, TikTok and Instagram will be a better fit than Twitter - which is more text heavy.

"It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it" - John Wooden

Don't waste your efforts and energy into avenues that won't reach your audience. Take the time needed to calculate and hit your target.

I think a common misconception is that if you make one graphic it works for all platforms. Well, this isn't always true. I think that graphics with a little text are best for Instagram, but when it comes to Facebook or Twitter there shouldn't be much text because you're inevitably going to scroll past because they didn't put the effort into writing it into the caption instead!

This is a good point, and makes it imperative to pick the platforms that you would want to put all that effort into!

I agree that many businesses would do much better if they were just honest about their products.

Do you mean honest with themselves or with their consumers?

John Wooden was such a special coach and human being because he would learn from everyone else. He turn every weakness he had into a strength!

He was an inspiration as the head coach at UCLA Men's Basketball, winning a total of 10 rings and the title "Wizard of Westwood"- amazing!
